What is a Herxheimer reaction?
As organisms die they release toxins faster than the body can clear them, causing temporary headaches, fatigue, brain fog, irritability or aches. It usually passes within 1–3 days. Slow down or reduce dose if severe.
Binders
Binders 'mop up' toxins released during die-off. Zeolite (clinoptilolite) is a favoured selective binder — it targets heavy metals and toxins without stripping the good nutrients, unlike activated charcoal which is broad-spectrum and also absorbs vitamins and medication. Bentonite clay and fulvic/humic acids are also used. Take all binders 2+ hours away from supplements and medication.
Drainage pathways
Keep bowels moving daily (fiber, magnesium, water), support the liver (dandelion, milk thistle), sweat (sauna/exercise), and hydrate heavily. Open drainage = fewer die-off symptoms.
When to stop
Stop and seek medical help for high fever, severe abdominal pain, blood in stool, difficulty breathing, or symptoms that worsen instead of resolving.
